Importance of Knowing & Trusting Your Furrier. 2026 Furrier Trunk Show Schedule.

Whether it’s your garment or an inherited heirloom, Eilers Furs, est. 1927, is the only professionally trained furrier service in #SouthDakota and #NorthDakota. Do not be misled by unqualified online furriers offering services. One must be extensively trained by a skilled furrier to understand the dynamics of handling and identifying #NaturalFurs and garment sewing.

Know your furrier. Trusting an experience furrier isn’t just about buying or maintaining a fur garment—it’s about protecting a valuable, delicate investment that requires specialized care.

First, expertise matters because fur is a natural material. Unlike synthetic fabrics, it reacts to temperature, humidity, and handling. An experienced furrier understands how to properly clean, condition, and store pelts so they don’t dry out, shed, or lose their luster. Poor handling can permanently damage a piece.

Second, a skilled furrier can accurately assess quality and authenticity. Whether you’re purchasing a coat or having one repaired, they can identify the type of fur, its grade, and any weaknesses. This helps you avoid overpaying or unknowingly damaging a garment through improper care.

Another key point is proper storage. Professional furriers often provide cold storage services designed specifically for fur preservation. These environments control humidity and temperature in ways a regular closet simply can’t, significantly extending the life of the garment.

Repairs and alterations are also highly specialized. Fixing tears, replacing linings, or restyling a vintage piece requires precision and knowledge of how fur behaves. An inexperienced handler can easily make mistakes that are costly—or irreversible.

Finally, trust plays a role in long-term value. Fur garments can last decades and even be passed down through generations—but only if they’re properly maintained. A reputable, experienced furrier helps ensure that longevity.

In short, working with an experienced furrier safeguards quality, preserves value, and ensures your garment receives the care it truly needs.

Eilers Furs is the Dakotas’ only full-service professional furrier, offering vaulted, temperature-controlled cold storage, as well as cleaning, glazing, and conditioning of all #fur and #leather garments. South Dakota Company Announces Fourth Generation Furrier and 2023 Roadshow Schedule

Established in 1927 in Huron, South Dakota, EilersFurs, est. 1927 has been keeping the Midwest warm for nearly 100 years with high-quality, all natural, bio-degradable garments. A tradition the company plans to continue with its recent acquisition from fourth-generation furrier, Brandy Ann Fiala. Eilers Furs was founded with a passion for furs and fashion in 1927 in Huron, SD by William Eilers, Sr. That passion passed through the generations to Bill Eilers, Jr. and most recent owners, Leonard, and Gail Iwinski. On January 6, 2023, Fiala turned her passion for fur and fashion into business, taking ownership of EilersFurs, est. 1927 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the Bridges on 57th & Western.

Fiala, a North Dakota native, moved to Sioux Falls in 1998 to attend college and fell in love with the city and its residents; proud to call Sioux Falls home ever since. Fiala graduated from Colorado Technical University in 2005 with her bachelors in business management and marketing, a believer in continuing education she attended Dakota State University and completed her studies in 2018 earning a master’s in business administration from the University of Sioux Falls. Fiala has served in various marketing roles throughout South Dakota in both the non-profit and corporate sectors, including the Lions Eye & Tissue Bank, Edgewood Healthcare, and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Fiala is eager to bring her education and past work experiences to enhance Eilers platform.

“Everyone needs and deserves to wear fur” Fiala boasts. “Fur is the warmest thing you can wear and the most natural and environmentally sustainable product on earth. If we care at all about the air we breathe, we’ll all wear fur.” Eilers keeps their overhead costs at a minimum to provide furs at an affordable price point.

Serving the region, Fiala will take Eilers on the road in May and October to offer professional fur cold storage, cleaning, repairs, alterations, repairs, and a discounted inventory. Fiala, “feels blessed to be honored with the task of keeping traditions of fur trading alive”. Fiala lives on Lake Vermillion with her two children, Kristofferson, and Cason. They enjoy spending time outdoors with their two dogs, Merle and Princess Love Muffin, and mouse hunting cat, White Fang. Fiala serves her community as an active member of the Ashrama Temple #97 Daughters of the Nile, South Dakota Retailers Association, Sioux Falls Chamber, Business & Professional Women of Sioux Falls, and Sioux Falls Pink Ladies. Fiala is a charter member of the Harrisburg Lions Club and a title holder of Mrs. South Dakota 2013.
